Butterfly and flowers: set of nine 4.25" French Country tiles, Portuguese style hand painted tiles

The set consists of eight different flowers and one butterfly. These are unique tiles.

Some imperfections may show due to being hand-painted and hand-glazed (bisque tiles made in Mexico) and kiln fired. These ceramic tiles are prepared for wall covering.

Our work preserves the tradition of hand painted tiles, brought in Europe by the Moors in the 14th century. It includes the way of preparing the glaze and the cobalt wash. Heat, or any abrasive cleaning applications do not affect the integrity of our tiles, that are meant to be conserved for centuries!
