Set of 9 - 4.25" antique Portuguese style tiles, hand painted

Set of 9 blue and white Portuguese Azulejo style 4 1/4” tiles. Background glaze is off white. There are seven blank tiles (glazed only), and eight hand painted tiles.

The flowers are a reproduction of a 17th century Portuguese mural tiles (azulejo). All tiles are hand-painted on glaze (bisque tiles made in Mexico) and kiln fired.

These ceramic tiles are prepared for wall covering.

Some imperfections may appear due to being hand-painted and hand-glazed.

Our work preserves the tradition of hand painted tiles, brought in Europe by the Moors in the 14th century. It includes the way of preparing the glaze and the cobalt wash. Heat, or any abrasive cleaning applications do not affect the integrity of our tiles, that are meant to be conserved for centuries!
