Set of three hand painted blue and white 6" tiles - Azulejo (Portuguese tiles) antique style

This set consists of three 6" Portuguese antique style hand painted tiles. Background glaze is off white.

These ceramic tiles are inspired on tiles found in centuries old Portuguese murals. They are prepared for wall covering, and can be used for back splash, furniture, counter tops, garden bench.

The antique style enhances bathrooms when used as insert or borders. The tiles shown in two pictures of a model bathroom are not part of the set, but can be reproduced.

All tiles are hand-painted on glaze (bisque tiles made in Mexico) and kiln fired. They are prepared for wall covering.

Some imperfections may appear due to being hand-painted and hand-glazed.

Our work preserves the tradition of hand painted tiles, brought in Europe by the Moors in the 14th century. It includes the way of preparing the glaze and the cobalt wash. Heat, or any abrasive cleaning applications do not affect the integrity of our tiles, that are meant to be conserved for centuries!
